Electronics Technician - Instrumentation Development Canterbury (CT2 7FG) Full time / part time: Negotiable Permanent / fixed term: 3 month contract initially with potential to convert to a permanent position subsequently. Salary: £21:27k depending on experience, pro-rata if part-time. Target start date: April 2019 Experience required: Hands-on electronics development and testing A recognised electronic engineering qualification (HND or degree level) Relevant skills Instrumentation prototyping experience Good communication skills and attention to detail Electronics development and assembly Wiring and population Mechanical assembly Our client is an exciting SME with an opening for an electronics technician. Our client has been developing unique particle and molecular detection technologies for the past 10 years and is now seeking to launch new products on the market. As part of this expansion they are seeking a hand-on and capable individual with a proven ability to carry out PCB population, wiring, mechanical assembly, calibration and testing of complex instrumentation. A considerate and detail orientated mindset is imperative with a strong commitment to quality. The successful candidate will work with a small team of scientists and engineers and must be prepared to adapt to any and all engineering and related challenges that can emerge within a small team. These can range from day-to-day research driven rapid response change requests, to large scale deliverable driven managed projects and product development activities. Prior experience with instrumentation development or working within a small development team would be a considerable advantage. The candidate must be confident in working within a focussed and fast paced environment and be flexible in adapting to meet changing requirements. Particular technical skills of interest include: PCB build, modification and repair experience to component level Wiring, soldering (incl. SMT) and crimping to a high standard. Ability to read schematics with a good understanding of electronic components Confident mechanical assembly skills The ability to use test equipment such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes, etc. Previous experience working with and developing assembly and test instructions would also be beneficial.
