The Role:

Compliance Manager



Mandatory Requirement - Security clearance

Main Purpose of job:

To support the Site SSHEQ Manager and Site Management Team in the management and development of a highly profitable and progressive Site Operation within nuclear/radioactive activity whilst supporting the development and maintenance of best compliance practices from both a technical, security and HSE perspectives.

Directly responsible for advising and ensuring the compliance of all radioactive waste movements in and out of the nuclear facility and compliance with onward processing, recycling and disposal routes

The job holder will support the development of profitable technical solutions through the understanding of customer conditions for acceptance and waste acceptance criteria.


• Responsible for the compliance (both legislative and 3rd party requirements) of all radioactive waste movements in and out of the nuclear facility (NSL conditions LC5 LC4, EPR, IRR etc)

• Maintain contracts with RAMTUC, RADSAFE and other necessary membership bodies

• Management of the Waste Compliance Team including experts in waste transport, consignment, packaging and disposal/recycling site waste acceptance criteria.

• Responsible for providing advice and guidance to the business on profitable technical solutions for waste through thorough understanding of waste recycling/disposal Waste Acceptance Criteria both for primary and secondary wastes

• To be the lead contact and build up strong working relationships with the established waste recycling and disposal sites.

• To lead in establishing new waste recycling and disposal sites.

• Responsible for establishing and implementing strong processes for the management of wastes at the nuclear facility

• Establishing and maintaining a single waste tracking database at the nuclear facility

• Oversee NM accountancy system, and regulatory reporting, maintain BTC

• Responsible for the management and development of the staff falling under direct control to ensure they are Suitably Qualified and Experienced to fulfil their duties.

• Ensure relevant records are maintained and adherence to systems and procedures

• Propose, instigate and develop short, medium and long term improvement to processes and people to exceed business KPIs and grow the business.

• Responsible to report in a timely fashion, emerging project variances, particularly ones with potential adverse economic impact and to assist in taking appropriate mitigating action.

• Line manager to waste compliance Team

• Ensure sufficient resource is maintained to allow the Waste Compliance Team to operate effectively.

• Set and monitor key objectives for direct reports and also their performance on an ongoing basis in-line with PDR requirements

• To support the SHEQM and Head of Site Operations in any other duties necessary in the management and development of the business.
