We’re now on the lookout for a Social Prescribing Link Worker to deliver pop-up clinics in doctors’ surgeries across Redruth, Cambourne and Pool for a fixed term contract until the 31st January 2020.

Your Role

As a Social Prescribing Link Worker, you will be tasked with guiding and supporting disadvantaged people in the Redruth, Cambourne and Pool areas, along with starting the conversation on how they can improve their lives.

Working from pop-up clinics in GP surgeries, undertaking home visits and operating out of our headquarters in The Elms, Redruth, you will deliver the Social Prescribing Programme. This programme is funded by the Department for Health and Care and aims to provides alternative advice to support health and wellbeing within disadvantaged groups of people.

Maintaining your awareness of current initiatives to support disadvantaged members of the public, you will liaise with other service providers to ensure that you are providing the most up-to-date advise to service users and clinics attendees.

About You

To be considered as a Social Prescribing Link Worker, you will need:

- Several years’ experience working in a people-centred environment
- An understanding of the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector
- Experience of working with disadvantaged and socially excluded communities
- Computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office
- GCSE (or equivalent) standard literacy and numeracy, a Skills For Life qualification at Level 2 or above or an equivalent qualification in health, social care or similar
- A Level 2 Safeguarding certification, or the willingness to complete this
- A full driving licence and access to a car
- A flexible approach to working hours and the willingness to work outside normal working hours

Placement in this role will be subject to a satisfactory DBS check.

A Level 3 standard of education and training, or the willingness to complete this would be beneficial to your application. An IAG 3 qualification, or the willingness to complete this would also be an advantage, as would knowledge of the Cornish labour market. Geographical knowledge of Cornwall, in particular the Redruth, Cambourne and Pool areas would be equally desirable.
