Mechanical & Engineering Supervisor (Refrigeration & Air Conditioning)
Our long term and highly respected client, a specialist, family owned refrigeration and air conditioning engineering business, is now seeking to recruit for the above position.
The business is multi-faceted and includes cold store operations in addition to a broad range of refrigeration and air-conditioning engineering services, including maintenance and call-outs.

This senior position, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, provides the ability to help shape, develop and deliver engineering activities within the business, helping to lead the engineering team by example.
The successful applicant will be highly motivated and have a demonstrable work history from within the sector. With a solid understanding and experience of design, installation and commissioning of refrigeration and air-conditioning systems.
With strong communication skills, the ability to negotiate and develop client relations is also a key feature of this position.
Essential KSOA’s:
HND or Time served in Refrigeration
In-depth knowledge and experience of working on refrigeration and air conditioning systems / confidence and proven experience of providing remote support to on-site engineers
Industry related HSE knowledge to include method statements and risk assessments
Commercially aware with the ability to maximise account growth and identify potential development
Excellent communication and organisational skills related to planning and delivery of resources
The successful candidate will have the capacity to blend into an existing team environment and follow prescribed working practices. With strong soft skills other essential attributes include the ability to influence with a consultative, approachable demeanour whilst having the capacity to handle difficult situations decisively and fairly.

The Role
Allocation of work to the engineering team ensuring effective time management, use of materials and other resources.
Client reference point arranging site visits and collating technical information in relation to design and delivery of systems. To provide technical support and information to clients as required.
Analyse daily worksheets to review engineers’ observations for recommended additional work post call-out / planned maintenance.
Provide and correctly distribute worksheets for all confirmed work (external and in-house jobs).
Assist in obtaining written quotations from suppliers relative to quotation requests from clients, working within the company’s purchasing system for all equipment and sundry orders placed.
Oversee paperwork for site delivered/engineer collected products for validation.
Work closely with the Administration & Compliance Manager (ACM) ensuring all HS&E and Employment Law requirements are met whilst supporting the company’s policies and procedures.
In liaison with the ACM, ensure that all engineering work complies with current industry legislation whilst also conforming to policies and procedures of the client.
Take part in disciplinary investigations and hearings together with (and under the guidance of) the ACM in line with ACAS protocol.
Collaborate with various company stakeholders to ensure that the company cold store operates correctly and at the prescribed temperatures. Help to resolve any cold ctore faults or defects expediently whilst managing the facility service programme.
On rare occasions provide out of hours assistance to engineering customers and organise labour responses in line with the engineers’ call-out rota.
General supervision of maintenance for buildings and premises.
Maintain readily available, accurate records, stored on the appropriate mediums.
Develop less experienced engineers through coaching and mentoring.
Help in the development of existing accounts, promoting the company’s business activities within defined geographical limits.
