RDR are currently recruiting a Buyer to be based either in Newcastle for one of our key clients. This is available as a full time, permanent position and on offer is a competitive salary.

Roles and Responsibilities of the Buyer:

* Coordination and control of all aspects of the project procurement process for bought in equipment, goods and services. This will include, where necessary, the establishment and maintenance of gated procurement processes that link staged design, manufacture or fabrication milestones and FATs, against payment terms.

* Planning of procurement to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity, including assisting with the development of expediting and/or inspection programmes.

* Compile and issue all necessary procurement cost and schedule progress reports in line with company/project requirements.

* Ensure all procured items/services and supplier documentation are expedited on a regular basis to avoid project schedule delays, and take action in a timely manner to correct any issues likely to compromise achievement of required KPI’s or client satisfaction.

* Maintain full awareness of the commercial position of project procurement at all times, ensuring delay/disruption and variation issues are managed in an appropriate and timely manner, and advise the Cost Engineer and the Project Manager of any procurement issues/risks that may have a significant commercial impact on the project as soon as they become evident.

* Working within the Company’s ISO9001 quality systems, ensure all procurement processes meet the contract requirements.

* Co-ordinate the project procurement process in such a manner that all targets are met or exceeded.

* Help develop and maintain good relationships within and outside the service with all stakeholders and service users.

* Undertake all forms of contact on a daily basis including written correspondence, telephone correspondence and face-to-face contact on a range of subject areas.

* Ability to perform the role as a principal project procurement consultant, and if necessary personally deliver the procurement requirements for all stages of a typical EPC project.

* Familiar with the whole life cycle of procurement services from project concept stage through to close-out.

* A good understanding of the availability and use of all electronic tools available to a project procurement department (especially SAP, ProArc and the MS Office suite of software).

Daily Duties of the Buyer:

* Generating requisitions in SAP.

* Procuring consumables and hiring equipment.

* Expediting vendor materials, equipment, certification and related documents.

* Liaising with suppliers to acquire delivery documents and generating Material Movement Tickets.

* Goods Receipt in SAP.

* Sourcing new suppliers, developing and maintaining Approved Vendor List.

* Working as part of the team assisting as required with the implementation of daily procurement transactions being managed by the Buyers.

* General Procurement administration.

Qualifications and Required Experience of the Buyer:

* Previous Procurement experience

* Knowledge of engineering/construction industry would be advantageous.

* Understanding and experience of the supply chain process.

* Familiar in the use of SAP Procurement module.

* Working towards or planning to study CIPS advantageous.

* Good internal and external communication skills.Microsoft Office/ Word/Excel skills.

* Member of appropriate professional institution. e.g. The Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply

* Experience in the Oil & Gas, Energy and/or Renewables industries with a significant success in a procurement position during all stages of projects.

* Must be fully conversant with all current HSE and procurement legislation appropriate to the Oil & Gas and Energy industries, and a comprehensive understanding of quality systems to ISO9001 standards.
