Altran seek a motivated Safety Engineer to work in a client facing role, based in Berkshire, on nuclear and defence projects to write safety case documentation and undertake the associated assessments.

Your role

We specialise in system safety and our Expertise Centre is composed of consultants and experts in various engineering and scientific disciplines providing technical support on cutting edge projects for commercial, defence, energy and renewables customers worldwide.

Based in Berkshire and reporting to the project technical safety lead, the role may require frequent and/or extended periods of travel to a customer’s or industry partner’s site and may require visits or secondments to our other UK or global offices.

The job requires an understanding of safety engineering in a high hazard industry together with an appreciation of planning, timescales and delivery. As part of a knowledgeable and growing team, the successful candidate will be expected to listen, learn and contribute to ideas and problem solving initiatives. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and will be fully supportive of the team’s objectives and requirements. They may be expected to participate in business development activities. A relevant Professional Institution membership and Continuous Professional Development will be supported and encouraged.


* Assisting with the scoping and planning of safety case/assessment project deliverables;

* Undertaking safety case/assessment deliverables;

* Reporting on project deliverables to clients and Altran;

* Supporting Altran business development with clients;

Your profile

Qualifications and Technical Skills

* University degree or equivalent qualification, science or engineering (any discipline);

* UK Govt. Security Cleared, or willing to, up to DV level, if required;

* Good English oral and written communication skills

* Flexible and willing to travel on Company business;

* Computer literate;

* Willing to work on nuclear and defence projects.

Knowledge and Experience

* Some post graduate experience in an industrial engineering discipline;

* A focus on modern standards safety cases in high hazard industries;

* Experience undertaking hazard identification and analysis;

* Demonstrable capability in safety analysis techniques such as Fault Trees, Event Trees and FME(C)A;

* Competent in standard MS Office software use.
