Electronics Engineer – Oxford - £35-45k

Our emerging tech client is aiming to enable global scale ecosystem restoration, by providing data analytics and drone-based planting services to large scale ecosystem restoration projects. Their aim is to restore the world’s ecosystem by scaling up ecosystem restoration using data, drone technology and science.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Electronics Engineer to work within the engineering team on the developing of the new generations of seed delivery payload technologies. Their main responsibility will be to design, prototype and build all electronic sub-systems required to power and control the various payloads as well as communicate with the UAV platform carrying them. A good understanding of mechanical systems, an appreciation for the planet we live in and a passion for building things from scratch will go a long way towards carving out a significant role within this global organisation.

What we are looking for:

• Proven end to end experience of the New Product Development cycle (NPD).
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to review and write clear product design documents which describe the complete product in detail and how to operate it.
• Experience in the design of products for experimentation and field deployment.
• Electronic circuit design, schematic capture, PCB layout, manufacturing and assembly.
• Design of embedded digital control circuitry and real-time microcontroller solutions.
• Microcontroller firmware development and implementation.
• Design and integration of a variety of sensors (hall effect, ToF lidar) and actuators (DC, stepper and servo motors).
• Enthusiasm for continuous learning.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic digital and analogue circuit design.
• Can review electronic schematics.
• Comfortable with C / C++ programming.
• Practical microcontroller project experience.
• Understanding of electronics interface, e.g. SPI, I2C.

The following skills and experiences, while not necessary, are highly desirable:

• Mechanical CAD design, e.g. solidworks, fusion 360
• 3D printing experience
• Version control with git or similar software
• Bachelor’s degree in physics/Electronics and Electrical Engineering/Computer Science
• Hands-on practical work experience in the relative field is highly desirable

• This is a full-time role and relocation is available for the right person
• Base location Oxford
