Position - Assistant Project Manager

Location - Leatherhead

Reporting to - Project Manager

Desired Qualifications:

* Educated to degree level within an engineering, law or business related field or equivalent experience

* At least 2 years postgraduate experience in Project Management in a deliver or consultancy based environment with a range of project and client facing experience.

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral).

* Hold or be eligible to apply for UK based security clearance (UK residency test)

* Have or be working towards a Project Management qualification such as: APM – PFQ , PMQ; PMI, PMP (desirable)

Experience and Skills:

Essential:

* Between 4-8 years previous experience in a project management role

* Possess strong analytical skills and good organisational skills giving the ability to deliver to plans, schedules and estimates.

* Good written, oral, comprehension and presentational skills to enable effective communication with customers and management

* Ability to work independently, keeping management adequately informed and have ability to work with a wide range of people with differing skills and experience

* Highly numerate and good computer based skills in use of Microsoft and other applications

* Able to develop a project plan and understand the functions that make up project controls

Desirable:

* Understanding of the principles of RAID, RACI and risk management

* Understanding and experience of waterfall and AGILE methodologies

* Experience of working in a secure environment

* Experience of operating in a data centric environment

* Experience of working across a variety of sectors

* Willingness to work overseas

For Security processing candidates must have a minimum of 3 years up to date and unbroken residency in the UK.

Core Responsibilities and duties:

* Creation of project management products including plans, schedules, budgets and reports as required.

* Supports and/or advises on the successful delivery of projects through all phases from definition through development to close out.

* Supports and/or advises on all aspects of the project through the lifecycle including: schedule, budget, resource, quality, risks, issues, change and stakeholders in relation to task and project delivery.

* Establishes priorities for the completion of assigned tasks and monitors progress of others.

* Actively manages the provision of inputs and documents that are required for the completion of necessary tasks.

* Relies upon developing experience, interpersonal skills, and knowledge gained in assignment to ensure tasks are completed in compliance with policies, procedures and delivery strategy.

* Partakes in risk, change, issue, reporting, deliverables, benefits and improvement plan planning, tracking and monitoring.

* Develops and maintains task management information, collects and analyses project status information to help develop project reporting.

* Supports other members of the team in understand how to apply the processes, systems and tools that are deployed in the project.

* Co-ordination and administrative tasks in setting up projects, organising project diaries and plans.

* Support analysis of supplier performance, reporting on progress, cost and risk positions.

* Provides analysis and support material for potential change events to allow project to make informed decisions.

* Understand and actively manage HSE and security on all assignments
