Technical Support Engineer (Hawick & Jedburgh, Scottish Boarders will require flexibility to travel ) REF: DW1163 LOCATION: Hawick & Jedburgh, Scottish Boarders – will require flexibility to travel JOB TITLE: Technical Support Engineer SALARY & BENEFITS: salary circa £17,5000 to £25,000 dependent on experience & skills – plus benefits and travel expenses WORKING HOURS: Full Time – Monday to Friday but could require travel and flexibility in days worked THE COMPANY & THE ROLE: Our client are a world class provider of infrastructure solutions covering the telecommunications, electricity and water industries. There Hawick and Jedburgh factories, located in the Scottish Borders, are centres of expertise for duct and sub duct, optical cable, air blown fibre and other extruded polymer products and they now seek a Technical Support Engineer to work from these locations. This role would suit an Engineer or Mechanically/Technically minded individual with installation experience and excellent communication skills. You will work with the Company's Solution Department who are responsible for supporting the global sales team, the role as Technical Support Engineer encompasses supporting in the day to day activities which include, testing products, conducting cable blowing trials, testing new equipment, developing sample packs, through to assisting marketing in composing solutions to offer clients. The role has the opportunity for some travel in and around Europe supporting the other Emtelle locations for which expenses are covered. Key Responsibilities for the Technical Support Engineer role include :- Completing product data sheets Ensure required work instructions and manuals are up to date Working closely with sales personnel providing product field support where necessary, this will involve travel throughout the UK. Execute and document testing to ensure products meet customer and industry standards. Perform testing to required standards for Fibre flow products. Pro-actively helping with solutions to improve Field Support Liaising with the Team leader - Technical Support Team regarding any outstanding tasking within the team and actively participating in their resolution **Please note a full Job Description will be sent to candidates of interest with a company application form to complete and return. THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate for the Technical Support Engineer role will need to have demonstrable technical, communication and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to accurately follow written instructions and drawings, and must have a valid Driving Licence and have a high standard of proficiency in handling installation equipment . Although not essential it would also be highly desirable for candidates to have demonstrable experience in Fibre Optics, Telecoms or a related field although training can be given. Candidates will need to be self motivated individuals with a proactive can do attitude and should also have great face to face and strong influencing skills. Candidates will also need to be able to commute to Hawik and Jedburgh, Scottish Boarders and should be flexible to working hours and travel. Key Experience / Characteristics preferred for the Technical Support Engineer role :- Must have experience in a related Installation or Technical Engineers role Ability to follow written instructions and drawings essential Must have excellent communication skills Someone who is self motivated individual who take great pride in their work Must have a Driving Licence and be able to commute to Hawick and Jedburgh, Scottish boarders Will need to be prepared for occasional travelling away – expenses are covered Does this sound like you?
