Job Title: Quality Assurance Manager

Location: Crawley

Salary: £45,000 -£50,000 per annum

Full time

Our client based in Crawley is looking to recruit a Quality Assurance Manager to define and implement internationally recognised standards for both product quality and business systems.


* To define and implement an ISO9001:2015 quality management system and ISO 45001 health and safety management system that has the full support and understanding of the Company staff such that the Quality and H&S procedures are at the heart of the business.

* To ensure that the business remains “audit ready” and that audit success is a routine.

* Carry out internal and supplier quality audits.

* To work with the members of the team to document procedures and processes that are consistent with international standards and best practice.

* Once fully defined, to administer Corrective Action Requests (CAR) and Engineering Change Note (ECN) processes chairing ECN and CAR reviews

* Facilitate investigations of CARs to root cause using structured problem solving (8D) methodology both internally and externally (with customers and suppliers) in order to develop a culture of continuous improvement.

* To perform supplier audits where supplier quality issues dictate and to recommend improvements and alternate suppliers where necessary to improve the Company’s performance.

* Defining key business indicators and providing reports on these metrics to the senior management team for monthly reviews – to include Health and Safety metrics.

* Suggest and improve business processes to facilitate the growth of the organisation.

* Maintain and Certify the Company’s compliance for both CE, UL and CSA certificates for all products.

* Own the calibration log of key items of measurement equipment.

* Carry out Risk Assessments

* Coordinating accident/incident investigations

* Carry out regular site inspections / emergency drills

* Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry

* Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases

* Chair routine site health and safety meetings


* Minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role.

* Minimum of HNC in engineering or science discipline

* Proven capability in internal audit to ISO 9001 or equivalent quality standards essential and third party lead auditor audit experience desirable

* An industry recognised qualification such as the NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) or credible experience in health and safety, including operations experience would be an advantage

* Green belt in six sigma methodologies with an emphasis on value stream mapping and Kaizen events.

* Some knowledge of SPC techniques used in a manufacturing environment.

* Knowledge of UL, CE and CCC compliance requirements for engineered capital equipment.

* Previous experience of defining, implementing and maintaining or reaching externally audited management standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 45001

* Previous experience of working within a highly technical or scientific environment, electronic or optical industry preferable.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to work with, provide advice to, train, and promote excellence in Quality, Health and Safety to all staff

* Experience of working with senior management

* The ability to organise and prioritise workload

* Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to see the bigger picture.

* Previous experience of working within a highly technical or scientific environment.

* Good team working and leadership skills.
