Sewell Wallis are working with one of Europe’s leading suppliers of building materials based in Sheffield who are looking to appoint a Payroll Assistant. The successful candidate will be working in a supportive team atmosphere with possible progression opportunities.

The Role: -

- Responsible for general, end to end, payroll administration for all payrolls working closely with colleagues in the payroll and reward team.

- Provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues on all aspects of PAYE and first level advice on payroll and reward related queries.

- To adhere to pay related policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legislation at all times.

- Support HR Shared Service Centre led projects and activities.

- Maintain efficient document retrieval for all payroll cycles, ensuring appropriate approvals and audit controls are maintained across the department.

- Continuous improvement of payroll processes to ensure they are as efficient as possible.

- Assist with the administration of the company pension and benefits schemes providing guidance to colleagues on process and associated requirements for the relevant providers.

- Keep up to date with changes in payroll legislation and advise Payroll and HR team of changes which may have an impact on colleagues.

- To build relationships with key stakeholders to ensure payroll procedures are followed and returns of payroll data are accurate.

- Actively engage with Line Managers to ensure Payroll processes are completed in accordance with deadlines.

- Support the Payroll Manager with the launch of new initiatives and ad hoc projects.

- Provide necessary regular and ad-hoc reports to meet business needs using both Payroll and HR systems.

Key Skills:-

- Expert knowledge of PAYE and benefits legislation e.g. PAE, salary sacrifice

- Numerate, organised and administratively strong

- Ability to manage an end to end payroll process

- Demonstrable experience of delivering continuous improvement

- Experience of performing against KPI’s

- Excellent IT skills – Excel, Word, Payroll and HR Systems

- Strong compliance knowledge

- Demonstrates resilience, drive and commitment to results
