POSITION: Essential Work Skills Tutor/Assessor

SALARY: £26,000

BENEFITS: Company Pension,

HOURS: 40 hours per week; Monday-Friday.

LOCATION: Based in Newcastle but required to deliver across the region


Our client is an independent provider of Further and Higher Education. They are looking for highly motivated, experienced tutors to deliver essential work skills to help people prepare for employment. The post also includes effectively engaging with key stakeholders, colleagues and referral agencies to maximise opportunities for eligible participants.

JOB ROLE:- (Not limited to)

To plan, prepare and facilitate all courses in line with awarding body learning outcomes and quality standards.
To prepare and amend Schemes of Work and Session Plans as required ensuring standardisation across programmes.
To develop, write, revise and maintain learning materials.
To ensure full completion of all necessary documentation including partner documentation, enrolment forms, benefit declarations, registers, ILPs, reviews and awarding body paperwork.
To support all learners throughout the duration of the programmes.
To prepare the learning environment ensuring rooms are conducive to learning.
To complete and maintain accurate records for all programmes.
To monitor attendance and punctuality and take appropriate action.
To ensure learner documentation, evidence and portfolios are fully completed and processed within the required deadlines.
To co-ordinate and complete internal verification and/or moderation (as appropriate).
To liaise and work with colleagues, partners, referral organisations and other stakeholders to recruit learners, and to secure, track and report learner progression.
To support, facilitate and supervise employability activities.

To participate in any internal/external CPD appropriate for the role and to ensure occupational updating and personal development.


Applicants should have a proven track record of delivering programmes including Retail, Performing Manufacturing Operations, Health and Safety in addition to experience of achieving challenging targets, deadlines and outputs would be essential.
Hold a PGCE/Cert Ed/PTLS/CTLS or equivalent.
Literacy/Numeracy at Level 2 as minimum.
A high degree of motivation to succeed.
The ability to meet paperwork submission deadlines, standards and record data.
Hold a full UK Driving Licence and access to transport.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to use ICT effectively i.e. Microsoft Office.
Ability to work effectively both as part of a busy team and independently.
Adhere to health and safety and safeguarding.
