Gap Personnel who are operating as an employment business are currently looking to recruit an experienced Shift Manager to work for our client based in Wigan.

The purpose of the job will be to manage personnel across the production and warehouse areas.

Responsibilities

To take responsibility for the smooth running of the day to day aspects of the packhouse and be able to fulfil all tasks within the production area to include delegation of tasks amongst your teams

Effectively manager agency staff requirements to ensure each day production requirements are met

Assist in setting up work areas - ensure lines are running efficiently and KPI's are being met for each job

Liaise with other departments to ensure effective communication and planning

Ensure all staff adhere to company policies and procedures at all times and lead by example

Effectively manage cost per kilo of all production in line with KPI's

Promote quality and lean manufacturing practices within the team and ensure that these processes are carried out

Carry out a variety of HR activity such as absence management, training, development, reviews, recruitment and disciplinaries

Manage costs within the packhouse to budget, and be proactive by looking at more efficient ways of working to include cost savings

To assist in the development and implementation of strategic packhouse plans to include helping to develop new systems by implementing and training these to your teams

Ensure that productivity levels remain consistent and/ or improved in the packhouse

To coordinate stock requirements and labelling to include signing of label check sheets

To monitor and ensure that the packing equipment, work stations and entire packhouse is maintained at the required hygiene and operational standards.

To monitor the quality of the product that is being packed is to each customer specification; alert QC of any quality issues

To carry out the RDT (computer system) processes and procedures relating to works orders, i.e. closing and costing of works orders

To check the correct number of staff are being recorded on each works order and that the works order times are being started and stopped at the correct times.

Ensure maximum capacity of product process, by consistently monitoring KPIs (Key performance indictor) for performance of production line, machinery and recommending appropriate adjustments are made in accordance with company quality standards.

To be a key driver in supporting and promoting change within the business.

To train Team Leaders and to monitor that tasks are being performed correctly; to re-train and encourage where improvement is required.

Be the port of call for any issues that arise in the packhouse and escalate where necessary

Essential criteria

Experience of managing within a production environment

Excellent knowledge of health and safety requirements

Excellent knowledge of health and safety requirements

Good understanding of quality requirements

Salary £26-28,000 DOE - Tuesday to Saturday 7am-3.30pm
