Athona is currently looking to recruiting for a Head of Early Years position on a full time basis to help assist the management team of a well reputable nursery based in Chelmsford, Essex. The appointed Head of Early Years will be able to provide quality childcare and education while ensuring the needs of all children and staff are being met.

Key Responsibilities

* Support the Kindergarten Manager and Assistant Manager to further develop the nursery

* Liaise with the Over 2’s and under 2’s supervisors

* Implement a strong structure in all rooms

* Implement British Values

* Quality monitoring of education and care within the nursery including planning cycle, next steps, focused observations, reports, best practice and outstanding teaching

* Ensure effective planning assessment and record keeping in line with the EYFS

* Ensure the nursery meets the requirements of the EYFS and OFSTED registration and inspection criteria

* Ensure learning environments promote equality of opportunity and positive behaviour management strategies

* Team mentoring, training, support and development

* Set a visible leadership example to staff

* Ensure effective use of resources and equipment

* Research and manage resources and equipment for areas of provision both indoors and outdoors

* Motivate and lead team of Early Years Practitioners in delivering outstanding care and education

* Ensure team is aware of the setting’s policies and procedures

* Provide internal training and support to Early Years Practitioners

* Identify areas of improvement and development and act on them

The successful applicant is expected to:

- Effectively teach the EYFS curriculum to the highest standards.

- Asses and monitoring progression levels.

- Deliver fun and engaging lessons that also challenge and develop peoples learning.

- Communicate effectively with pupils, parents and other staff members.

- As part of the role you will be expected to be committed to the nurseries objectives and teach in line with their ethos.

You will need:

- Minimum of a Level 4 Qualified Teacher Status or Early Years Teacher Status

- An up to date DBS (this can be applied for through Athona)

- A strong understanding on the EYFS curriculum
