Our client is a well-established engineering company with a rich history in designing and manufacturing special purpose machinery for a variety of industries.

Due to organic growth, they are actively seeking a hardworking and ambitious Production Manager with a machining background, who can utilise the factory and the machine shop as effectively as possible to fulfil works orders on time, on budget and to specification.

Key Responsibilities:

* Manage the machine shop with preparation & assignment of works orders.

* Selection and preparation of materials, tools and packing material and methods.

* Control of machinery & tooling, employee holidays, timesheets and identify and manage training requirements.

* Production scheduling (capacity planning) to anticipate potential risks / problems and manage them efficiently.

* Schedule production by utilising the MRP system to schedule works orders to utilise labour and workstations as effectively and efficiently as possible.

* Ensure customer delivery targets are managed effectively

* Stock Control -Maintain the MRP system to ensure stock reports are complete, accurate and up to date.

* Health & Safety – promote and maintain safe working practices.

* Maintain and promote the Quality Management System to ensure appropriate working practices and working standards are followed and that customer service levels are maintained.

* Liaise with the Technical Manager to ensure machine problems are promptly identified and resolved.

* Production of weekly management information.

The Person:

* Previous experience working in a machine shop is essential along with a proven background in managing a team of operators / machinists.

* Must have good understanding of CNC manufacturing.

* A good understanding of quality and inspection procedures would also be beneficial.

* Knowledge of sub-contract machining is desirable.


* Salary £35kpa - £40kpa dependent on experience.

* 33 days holiday per annum inclusive of statutory.

* Company Pension Scheme.

* Annual Group Bonus.

The working hours are 8.00am – 5.30pm Monday to Thursday & 8.00am – 12.00pm Friday (40 hours per week)
