Park Community Academy is a Community Special Academy for boys and girls aged 2 - 19 years from Blackpool and surrounding areas. There are currently 273 pupils on roll.

Park Community Academy is a founding member of the Blackpool Multi Academy Trust.

From September 2015, the Local Authority commissioned Park Community Academy to deliver Post 16 provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs. This is a co-located provision with Woodlands School situated off-site, based at Westbury Sixth Form Centre.

Westbury Sixth Form Centre offers a three-year programme providing education up to the age of 19- there are currently 33 students on roll (Year 12/13/14).

What are we looking for?

A candidate to lead a front line service, managing and coordinating work with external agencies, school-based colleagues, children and their families in order to develop positive home/school and multi-agency relationships that have a direct impact on children’s health, safety, well-being and learning.

The working arrangements will be set to best meet the needs of the school and will involve a flexible working pattern. Some duties will take place out of school hours, evenings, weekends and school holidays, to include leading the PCA Summer Activity Scheme and leading PCA’s Youth Club.

This is a temporary 1-year maternity cover/ Secondment Opportunity

This post is available as a temporary position for 1 year to cover maternity leave. The Family Support Team address the increasingly complex needs of a rapidly expanding school population at this large and popular Community Special School for pupils with moderate and complex learning difficulties (age 2 – 19)

37 hours per week (Full Year)

NJC Grade G Points 31 – 34

Actual Salary - £28,221 – £30,756

NB: It is important to note that candidates are expected to attend on both days for interview.

The position will commence with effect from 1st May 2019. This is an established post and the successful candidate will lead, manage and coordinate work with external agencies, school-based colleagues and children and their families.

This position incorporates a flexible working pattern and includes Youth Club Leader responsibilities until 8.30pm one evening per week. The person appointed will be responsible to the Headteacher and will play an important role in family support, pupil welfare and safeguarding across the school.

What you need:

Qualifications:

● A minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths.

● A degree, NVQ Level 4, HND, or equivalent relevant qualification in Child Development/Child Studies/Social Work/Social Care.

● Safeguarding Children Level 3 or above.

● A full current clean driving license and access to own transport is essential to meet the requirements of this post.

● Minibus driver license is desirable.
