Our client is an international manufacturer of construction and mining equipment for the global market. They are based in the North East of England, close to Newcastle upon Tyne, and was established in 1985. The Company employs over 450 people who are engaged in the design and manufacture of medium-sized hydraulic excavators, mainly for the European market.
They now have an excellent opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic IT Service Desk Agent to join the IT team.
The successful candidate will be based with our client but will be working as part of the European IT Service Desk Team providing the first line of support to the users of IT facilities and to users at other Europe sites as required.
The main duties and responsibilities of the position will be to:

Log user requests to the helpdesk and assign correct priority, ensuring the request has been properly understood and documented.

Resolve user requests to appropriate quality level and within acceptable response times, including getting user feedback on solution quality.

Analyse and resolve technical problems in a structured manner.

Configure new laptops, desktop PCs and workstations.
*
Maintain the IT Asset register.
*
Perform routine monitoring and maintenance tasks.
*
Participate in IT projects where required under the guidance of Project Managers and Systems Engineers.
The successful candidate should have an IT-related qualification at NVQ level 3 or similar. They should have the aptitude and desire to achieve further IT qualifications and to continuously improve their technical expertise. Experience in Windows operating systems at PC level, preferably also at server level, would be an advantage. At least 2 years experience of working with computer users in an advisory/support capacity, an ability to understand, follow and create written procedures and the initiative to research possible solutions to user requests is also required. In addition to the above, applicants will be self-motivated, able to work independently and have a customer focused attitude. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential.
