Job Title: Project Scheduler / Planner

Department: Projects

Reporting to: Senior Project Manager

Key responsibilities and tasks

Provide the day-to-day scheduling of all activities that underpins all project deliverables and milestones.

Coordinate the sequence and workflow for multiple projects.

Work closely with the Senior Project Manager and Project Management team in creating, implementing and maintaining a master project / programme plan in-line with the project requirements and deliverables.

Have regular reviews of works order release and progress with the Production Manager.

Coordinate works orders across projects.

Optimise production efficiencies and costs through effective capacity planning.

Analyse historical data along with other information to create long-term production plans. Ensure that activities undertaken align with the customer requirements and project deliverables and communicate risk of protracted timelines. Ensure Group processes and procedures relating to the project activities are followed.

Review and analysis of actuals v forecasts and reporting of metrics.

General activities

Carry out any other ad-hoc duties as required to support the needs of the business.

Provide a professional backup service for colleagues during peak times or during absence.

Maintain continuous professional development to ensure knowledge is up to date.

Act as an ambassador for the company in all interactions with customers and the public.

Qualifications, experience and skills

Essential

Good working knowledge and experience of ERP/MRP systems (Access Factory Master would be highly advantageous)
Previous experience in Planning and Scheduling, ideally within the manufacturing or defence industry
Good understanding of Project Management methodologies (Prince2, APMP, PMP)
Knowledge of Project and Programme Management tools (Microsoft Project) and techniques, and the ability to demonstrate value from their effective deployment
Knowledge of ISO9001 or a similar QA system
Self-motivated and able to take responsibility
Methodical, accurate and have consistent attention to detail
Strong presentation skills, confident speaker and professionally presented

Desirable

HND or Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Manufacturing Engineering or relevant experience
Engineering or trade background
Prince2, APMP, PMPcertified
Experience of working within the Defence Industry
Experience within a lean manufacturing environment
