Test & Development Engineer - Mechanical, Oxford, £38,000pa - £42,000pa plus benefits:

A Test & Development Engineer with a mechanical engineering background is urgently required by a University of Oxford spin-out who has developed disruptive engineering technology within their industry. This company has already raised significant funding which has resulted in rapid growth and product optimisation. This exciting and ground breaking organisation have recently moved into newly refurbished offices which boasts the latest technology.

This Test & Development Engineer vacancy will give the successful candidate the chance to be the first dedicated Test & Development Engineer onsite. You will be in at the start of a rapidly expanding test and development team with the potential to grow into a management role over the coming years. You will get a high degree of technical independence, responsibility and autonomy with the added bonus of helping source a new test location and equipment to make a state of the art facility.

The role:

The Test & Development Engineer will be able to work to very rapid product development timescales and take responsibility for the timely delivery of accurate and consolidated performance characteristics. The engineer will take the initiative in planning and executing test modifications (hardware, software, processing, process) to further improve, stream-line and future-proof the companies testing capabilities.

About you:

The successful Test & Development Engineer will be qualified to degree level in mechanical engineering or a science field (First class or high 2:1), ideally with 3+ years’ industrial experience or you have been doing a PhD / research.

You will have significant hands-on mechanical build and test experience, ideally within high speed/pressure experimental test facilities. You have in-depth knowledge of instrumentation and data logging with proven experience of managing, processing and analysing large volumes of experimental data, ideally using MATLAB, LabVIEW and Microsoft Office.

A strong understanding of engineering and scientific principles with ability to rapidly learn and apply new concepts is required, as is experience using CAD modelling and technical drawing for mechanical design, and understanding of manufacturability.

Our client offers a competitive salary, £38,000pa - £42,000pa plus benefits, which includes a company contributory pension, death in service insurance, 25 days annual holiday plus public holidays.
