Finance Assistant - Spider are supporting a well-established, family-run business in the recycling industry in their search for an experienced Finance Assistant on the outskirts of Ipswich in Great Blakenham. This Finance Assistant will assist the Finance Manager with the day to day financial activity of the business. Excellent communication skills both verbal & written are of highest importance. If you have previous experience of working in a finance or accountancy background and have excellent mathematical skills, we'd love to hear from you.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Finance Assistant with strong customer-service skills to join well-established company.
Duties:
* Processing and preparing financial and business reports.
* Posting & Authorising of purchase invoices and credit notes and raising Purchase Orders using Sage Line 50
* Perform routine calculations to produce analyses and reports as requested by the Finance Manager
* Reconcile supplier statements and draft supplier payment runs
* Process and reconcile Petty Cash ledger, expense & credit card accounts as well as payments received by cheque using Sage Line 50
* Create, forward and follow up daily, weekly and monthly sales invoices using our industry-based software system (full training will be given).
* Perform regular credit control exercises to ensure timely receipt of overdue monies
* Review and audit financial statements and reports, ensure all calculations and data entries are correct
* Reconcile any discrepancies or errors identified by conversing with other departments or company clients
* Collect information and assist with preparation of payroll payments for employees including Pension and HMRC submissions using Government portals specific to our industry
* Assist the Finance Manager with creating financial reports on a regular basis as well as cover for planned & unplanned absence
* Answer questions, raise queries and provide assistance to customers and clients as required
* Attend finance meetings, sometimes assisting with financial reporting to managers and senior executives
* Suggest changes or improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and cost reductions.
Skills and Qualifications Required:
* Previous experience of working in a finance or accountancy background essential
* Excellent mathematical skills
* Good understanding of new data privacy standards (GDPR)
* Excellent customer-service skills
* Solid communication skills, both written and verbal
* Familiarity with family business principles and practices an advantage but not essential
* Good level of adaptability to unplanned changes in workload and deadlines
* Superior attention to detail, good organisational & planning skills
* Excellent problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills
* Good computer skills with proven experience and good level of confidence with Sage Line 50, Microsoft Excel & Outlook.
A competitive salary is on offer of circa £23,000 depending on experience. 38.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5.15pm. Holiday is 20 days per annum plus Bank Holidays. Due to the location of the client will require own transport and free parking is provided.
