Job Details:

Job overview:

The role will be based in our Business Support Centre in Trowbridge. The apprentice will report to the IT service delivery manager and be working within the service desk team.

The apprentice will be given responsibility to ensure that the calls to the department are logged within the service desk system and are dealt with in-priority order or assigned to the correct support team to be dealt with.

IT is central to the success of the business, and the team supports the infrastructure and services vital to its operation. We are embarking on a period of exciting change and this role will join a team engaged in numerous critical projects. The successful candidate will be an active member of the team that provides IT infrastructure solutions and technology support across the UK for our businesses (c.1800 people in total).

Main role / Responsibilities [will include but not be limited to]:

Answer Servicedesk calls and log information in the service desk software, issuing the customer with their call reference Provide updates to customers on all logged calls and review outstanding calls within the call logging system Chase up updates from other IT members to ensure issues are resolved effectively Pro-actively speak to other members of the IT team to increase knowledge Gain an understanding of Business processes and Business applications Knowledge transfer within the team for effective provision of the service Adherence to Apetito Standards, processes and policies for Service and Delivery Provide and share technical advice to business users Assist in the build of, and provisioning of, laptops, phones and software Ensure all laptops are patched with approved security software Escalation of serious issues to technical team members and/or IT manager where necessary Help enforce IT policies and good cyber security practice Contribute to the creation of documentation, including self-help solutions and wikis

Desired qualities, skills and knowledge:

Good communication skills Good diagnostic and problem solving skills Enjoys working within a team and keen to learn and share knowledge Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office products A genuine enthusiasm for technology Has a passion for speaking to business users and asking relevant questions to ascertain the user’s problem Enthusiasm for IT and a passion for technology Be a good problem solver and calm under pressure Excellent written and verbal communication skills Attention to detail and methodical in approach Live within manageable commuting distance of both Trowbridge

Desired qualification requirements:

3 x GCSE (or equivalent) at grades A-C in any subject plus GCSE English and Maths (or equivalents) at grade D or above.

Working week:

Monday to Friday,

9am – 5:30pm,

37.5 hours per week [all details will be confirmed with the employer]


£15,268 per annum

To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 consecutive years.
