This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to move into a Policy Adviser level position within a very highly regarded membership body. From day one you will be working alongside the Director of Policy and other senior policy professionals to develop the organisations policy position on a range of topics, build relationships with government officials and politician in Westminster, and communicate with members.

This particular role sits within the team that focuses on Financial Services, so as well as working on policy development around some of the fastest-changing areas of financial services like payment systems and fintech, the role will manage the organisations position on how best to foster positive competition and challengers in the FS market more generally. The role will be involved in managing the FS project which reviews Financial Services regulation, and will probably look after the organisations Competition Panel, which looks at economic regulation more widely than just the FS sector.

Responsibilities will include:

* Research and analysis of public policy

* Drafting of papers, policy briefs and responses

* Supporting the policy team and Director where required

* Influencing policy decisions by lobbying UK MPs, civil servants and EU institutions

* Representing the organisation at conferences, external meetings and possibly through the media

* Discussion with members individually and at committee meetings

* Responding to members queries

* Writing articles for membership updates

* Offering support on project work within the department and broader organisation

A successful applicant for this role will have:

* Past experience of parliament, either from working for an MP or MEP or from working within a similar type of organisation that engages with parliament.

* Excellent communication skills and confidence to build relationships and present clearly to a range of audiences.

* Previous experience of having worked within a similar field is desirable
