Our client based in Low Moor are looking for a Buyer Assistant to ensure that products and Components are bought on time, at the most competitive price, the right quality, negotiating with suppliers to challenge current material costs and lead times

KEY RESULT AREAS:

Order Processing
•Processing orders on the ERP system
•Ensure data is maintained accurately on the ERP system, including purchase and current cost data
•Create and maintain procedures that are consistent with the company’s ISO 9001:2008 quality standard
•Enure stock accuracy is maintained and cross checked within all departments
•Ensure that the correct currency exchange rates and added freight % costs are maintained for imported goods
•Ensure up-to-date information is communicated about lead times and delivery dates
•Ensure minimum stock levels are always maintained
•Make certain all purchasing transactions continue to be conducted ethically
•Ensure preferred supplier lists are maintained
•Monitor PO deliveries against sales order requirements, pro-actively highlighting any issues to the Supply Chain Senior Buyer and resolving where possible
•Participate in Supplier meeting

Negotiation
•Speak regularly to suppliers to influence the reduction of Cost of Goods Sold and lead times of products, raw materials and components
•Discuss and agree supply changes with Engineering Design to ensure that product specification, quality and safety is maintained at all times
•Negotiate supply agreements with nominated suppliers on price, quality and service
•Further develop supplier relationships

Import
•Work with freight forwarders for clearing customs on imported items
•Ensure import data is accurately recorded and maintained
•Ensure that tariff codes are maintained for imported goods

Other
•Carry out any other task that the Supply Chain Senior Buyer may ask of you

Skills & Experience
•Excellent communication, diplomatic and organisational skills
•Excellent active listening and negotiation skills
•Proficient with Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel
•Excellent organisational and planning skills

Hours of work will be 39hrs – Mon-Thurs 8.30-5.00 & Fri 8.30-4.00
