Our client is a leading UK financial institution, currently looking to hire a senior corporate lawyer for a predominantly advisory role. This team is renowned for being one of the best in-house legal departments and you will work with very smart and talented lawyers. You will get respect from the business and be empowered to make decisions and run with things, enabling you to add re value to the bank. You will be recognised for the work you do, and development and progression will be available.

The position will involve working closely with the corporate governance functions across the large group and contributing to a team which supports the Head Office. You will understand the strategy of the bank and in effect, be one in the team of group general counsels. You will work on high profile deals that the organisation is involved in but only a small percentage of the work would be transactional, more supporting the corporate secretariat, investor relations, insurance and finance divisions. This position will offer a varied workload and you should expect to have to turn your hand to a breadth of different issues.

It is envisaged that this position would suit a lawyer with around 6 years post qualified experience although all applicants will be considered on merit. A magic, silver circle or city background is required although you may already be in-house within a corporate team either in financial services or a blue-chip company. Some listed company experience, a good regulatory understanding and the credibility to deal with senior stakeholders would be useful. Our client is looking for someone who can learn quickly, get stuck in and is flexible about what the work that they do.
