What it's like to work here

Porth y Swnt is an exciting visitor experience showcasing the special qualities which make the Llyn Peninsula so unique in terms of history, culture and environment. It’s a place to explore, learn, reflect and enjoy a glimpse of what Llyn is all about as well as get ideas for activities, walks, attractions and things to do on the peninsula. Porth y Swnt, along with the Henfaes car park is a busy National Trust hub with lots going on. We work closely with local communities through school visits and events and offer visitors a base to get involved with a variety of activities. From exploring the visitor experience centre, kayaking or walking the coastal footpath to joining in with rockpooling on the beach, giving the Welsh language a go, or heading out on a guided bike ride- you will be promoting all these things and more to make sure all our visitors have an amazing time in the area.

What you'll be doing

You’ll be responsible for providing a courteous and informative welcome to Henfaes and Porth y Swnt in Aberdaron. Visitors are a vital part of what we do, so you’ll be responsible for ensuring that you provide an excellent service to all our visitors, every day. You'll be collecting admission fees, using tills and confidently selling membership. You’ll help to deliver the day to day operations, including managing visitor flow and ensuring a warm welcome to the property. When interacting with our visitors, you’ll provide information and answer queries, promoting membership and making sure visitors can find everything they need during their visit. You’ll plan, promote and help deliver a variety of activities and events for a broad range of visitors, including school groups and families, creating lasting memories for everyone. You’ll develop a sound knowledge of the property as well as the surrounding area. You’ll inform our visitors of the amazing work we are doing and what their money is funding, promoting local projects or our national strategy.

In the winter months, you will spend time planning engagement activities. You’ll also be involved with the development of Porth y Swnt and will have the confidence and initiative to communicate your own ideas to the rest of the team. This role includes frequent weekend and bank holiday working.

Who we're looking for

  • A flexible customer focused approach, with high standards of customer service
  • Excellent people skills, enabling strong relationships, both externally and internally
  • Strong organisation and planning skills, and a good eye for detail
  • Understanding of the aims and ethos of the National Trust
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • A hard working approach, be committed and a team player
  • Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety procedures
