The Opportunity

A prominent national company with their Shared Service Operation based in the centre of Leicester is seeking to appoint an experience finance professional to their business unit in the capacity of business analyst. You will be partnering with key areas of the group, providing a professional and efficient reporting service to internal and external customers within a SLA framework. A fantastic role suited to fiannce professionals who love getting under the skin of a company, adding value through their ability to extract and report on key metrics.

The SSF consists of approximately 60 people, in the areas of order to cash (accounts receivable and credit control), purchase to pay (accounts payable), record to report (general accounting), group accounting and VAT, procurement and related support services.

Employees are based primarily in Leicester, with a small number of staff, covering specific areas of work, based in London.

The Role

You'll be integral to effective decision making, providing analytical insight and analysis, supported by seamless and efficient transaction processing in a well-controlled environment, occasionally deputising for the Finance Team Leader

Working as part of the team, for the Finance business units/areas of responsibility, in conjunction with the Business Accounting Team Leader
Working with senior finance staff in delivering management accounts, including month end and reporting
Support the development of business plans, budgets and forecasts
Explore and analyse data, extracting valuable insights to enable informed decision making
Build strong relationships and credibility with relevant stakeholders
Drive accounting quality, strong financial control and continuous improvement of processes
Identify and evaluate financial risks and opportunities; identify options to mitigate the risks and exploit the opportunities
Assist with the preparation of timely and accurate monthly management accounts to include accruals/prepayments and revenue recognition
Assist in the production of Monthly management packs inclusive of commentary.
Management of all Intercompany transactions
Assist in the delivery of the budgeting and forecasting process
Responsible for the Balance sheet reconciliation packs
Demonstrating the SSF values and acting as a role model to other colleagues
Build effective and productive relationships with internal staff
To implement new processes and procedures which reflect any changes to the business
Be a flexible member of the team & supporting other members of the department with their work activities when required
Contribute to the development of a customer focused culture
To take responsibility for ongoing professional self development
Taking part in project work within the team but also within the group
Ensuring the depreciation of assets within the group are calculated correctly and on a monthly basis

The Candidate

Previous work in a Management Accounting/ Finance Analyst role is essential, ideally within a shared service function.

The role requires:

Excellent customer and colleague relationship skills
Have excellent communication and time management skills
Highly competent with management accounts and development review
Good analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to review and understand business models and strategies, focus on key issues, and deliver relevant analysis
Ability to remain calm under pressure and successfully balance multiple priorities and deliver to tight deadlines
Strong attention to detail
Strong Excel skills, working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and other systems required to perform the role

Flexibility with regard to working hours is also required together with a willingness to attend internal/external development activities

Qualifications and experience

An accountancy qualification, part qualification or qualified by experience is required.
Minimum of 3 years relevant accounting and analytical experience
Understanding of a Shared Service Function
Challenging and Analytical mind-set

A basic understanding of VAT, corporation tax and personal tax is required.
