Our Aintree based client is looking for an experienced Sales Ledger Clerk, due to an upcoming retirement with the Accounts team.
Working as part of a small team, you will manage the sales ledger, as well as credit control, and assist with the general smooth running of the accounts team function.
The role involves close liaison with the Sales team, who manage their customers accounts according to region.

Role Summary

* Process bank reconciliations
* Post cheque and bacs payments onto customer accounts
* Send out statements to customers
* Regularly review customer balances for accuracy and creditworthiness
* Resolving billing enquiries
* Other Accounting duties - Petty Cash, posting expense journals, etc.,
* Take ownership of debtors and ensure high standards Credit control, following up with customers by email, phone & issuing statements regarding outstanding monies
* Ad hoc billing related admin

Person Specification:

* Previous Accounts / Credit control experience
* Experience in processing bank reconciliations
* Ability to assess information from a variety of sources and test systems and procedures
* Able to work under own initiative
* You should be a problem solver and able to work under time and pressure constraints at certain points in the month.
* Self-motivated
* Able to work as part of a team. You would be working as part of a team of 3. The company has a large number of customers; therefore, bank reconciliations and credit control are the main part of this role. You should be capable of rising to the challenge and able to excel in this area.
* Able to prioritise administrative tasks and manage workload
* Attention to detail
* Able to be assertive when appropriate
* Previous experience of Microsoft NAV would be an advantage
* Be looking for a role where you want a long term position


* AAT Level 1 or 2, or CAT equivalent qualification - immediate or technician level desirable OR have a good level of Sales Ledger experience
* Must have a good working knowledge of Word and Excel (Intermediate level)

A well-established business that has been trading for over 130 years, the company sells a wide range of church supplies, such as candles, furnishings, vestments, communion items, wines, chalices, altar breads, statues and more. The company sells to customers all over the UK.

The salary
Salary range is £18,000 - £21,000. The salary awarded is dependent on suitability to the role & experience.

Permanent full time role, 37½ hours a week Monday to Friday 9.00 - 5.00pm
