The role:

Reporting directly to the CTO, this is a hands-on leadership role, leading our expanding IT Operations team and responsible for the implementation and management of our IT strategy. You will also be accountable for the smooth running of our existing systems, infrastructure and support processes across multiple UK sites.

Responsibilities:

· Providing operational leadership to the service desk and operational personnel

· Helping to drive results with the internal team of developers

· Implementing best practice systems and ‘ways-of-working’ within IT

· Implementing an IT reporting framework against agreed SLAs

· Maintaining delivery and operational performance indicators

· Working knowledge of best practice and knowledge of common frameworks

· Working with other business units to carry out transformational projects across the company

· Day-to-day oversight of IT physical hardware, software and network infrastructure

· Ensuring continuous improvement and best practices are adhered to

· Leading and mentoring the IT team and prioritisation of resources against IT demand

Person Specification

Essential

· Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent work experience

· Experience in managing projects and delivering results

· A working knowledge of IT best practice processes

· Solid documentation skills

· Excellent verbal communication skills

· Good understanding of network technologies

· Previous experience in a management or oversight role

· Administration of Linux and Windows server architectures

* You will also: ensure high standards of delivery and customer service; be determined, resilient and flexible; demonstrate a positive attitude; and come up with ideas that add value.

Desirable:

* Experience in web technologies and setting up and administering their environments

* Development experience

* Cloud and virtualisation experience

* Knowledge of relevant IT compliance
