Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Training Lead IQA to join our Power Transmission & Distribution business.

Based in Derby, this role will report into the Technical Training Manager and work across our projects.

Role Purpose

Ensure Assessment and internal verification is carried out to the National Standards of the IQA Award and in line with the requirements of Awarding Bodies, NVQ Code of Practice and Funding Bodies.

As an Lead IQA, your key responsibilities are as follows:

* Plan and prepare monitoring activities according to the requirements of own role

* Determine whether assessment processes and systems meet and operate according to quality requirements

* Check that assessors meet the requirements for their role

* Analyse assessor capabilities and potential in the context of their objectives and other requirements

* Agree and prioritise assessor learning needs and produce Individual development plans with assessors to reflect these

* Provide assessors with feedback, advice and support to help them maintain and improve their assessment practice

* Check that assessments are planned, prepared for and carried out according to agreed procedures

* Check that assessment methods are safe, fair, valid, and reliable

* Check that assessment decisions are made using specified criteria

* Compare assessor decisions to ensure they are consistent

* Work with assessors, trainers, employers and learners to ensure the standardization of assessment practice and outcomes

* Follow agreed procedures when there are significant concerns about the quality of assessment

* Follow agreed procedures for the recording, storing, reporting and confidentiality of information

* Follow agreed procedures in the case of any appeals procedures and/or discriminatory allegations

The following skills are required for the role:

* Good people management skills

* Strong administrative skills

* Able to manage your own time and others

* Good work ethics

* Able to work under tight deadlines

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Ability to maintain and update assessment portfolio packs ensuring that the programmes work in line with current frameworks and programme requirements

* Knowledge of E Portfolios is desirable.

* Good understanding of knowledge and performance criteria in relation to awarding bodies

Qualifications:

* Assessor and Verifier Awards

* Teacher training qualifications are desirable

* General Certificate of Education

* Experience as an assessor/ Internal Verifier in the Construction/Power Industry
