Job Title: Project Controller / Manager

Company Background:

My client are a privately owned totally independent gas sensor development and manufacturing company, founded in response to an overwhelming demand from OEMs for better quality gas and particle sensors and a higher level of after-sales support for the industrial safety and air quality markets.

The Company supplies high quality oxygen, particle, CO2, toxic and flammable gas sensors to many of the world’s leading industrial OEMs and air quality monitoring companies.

Terms of Employment:

Full Time, Permanent


£36 to £44K per annum - Negotiable

Reports to:

Technical Director

Job Overview:

Plan, execute and complete research and development projects on time and within budget, managing internal and external resources, to meet the requirements of the organisation.

Work with Universities and Research Organisations to ensure that funded projects are progressing to plan.

Monitor and communicate effectively the project progress through the use of Gantt charts and other suitable documentation.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.

Coordinate internal resources and third parties (e.g. universities, customers) during the execution of projects.

Develop detailed project plans to monitor, detailing critical path and track progress.

Document meetings, and ensure required purchases are controlled.

Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs.

Perform risk management to minimize project risks.

Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation as defined in the company’s Quality Management System. Assist in writing grant applications.

Investigate any non-conformances in the delivery of the project and implement corrective actions.

Resolve schedule conflicts, develop and implement work-around strategies and tactical alternatives.

Qualifications and Skills:

Educated with engineering, business management or scientific degree.

Proven working experience in project management in the manufacturing or academic sector.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Working knowledge of and experience in MS Project.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Energy and enthusiasm and an ability to cope with fast-moving, changeable demands.
