Zeus Personnel are currently working with he biggest stockist of acrylic plastic sheets in the UK. Our client are looking to add a Process Engineer due to expansion following a recent acquisition.

Job Purpose:

To support the Darwen sites with Process Safety Management matters. This includes managing/developing systems and providing advice to the Darwen teams to ensure compliance with legislative standards.

Responsibilities:

* Lead and monitor HAZOPs/Process Hazard Analysis and reviews and track implementation of recommendations.

* Identify Opportunities for Process Safety Change/improvements, take ownership and drive through to completion.

* Leads process related investigation for incidents and near misses to identify root causes and corrective actions.

* Carry out risk assessment on regular basis and track implementation of recommendations.

* Ensuring Process Safety Principles and best practices are implemented to improve process safety performance.

* Assist in the supporting and coaching of management teams to develop their process safety knowledge, awareness of their responsibilities and adoption of the best practise.

* Manage and develop electronic systems to ensure the appropriate retention and dissemination of information.

* Engage and work closely with other departments to support and push the PSM agenda.

* Track and monitor corrective and preventive actions.

Additional Responsibilities:

* The job will require relationships to be built with various departments both on site and within the larger group. To build effective relationships rational persuasion, self motivation, independence and a positive attitude are paramount.

* The job holder will be expected to act in a timely fashion to address and/or escalate significant high risk items that require immediate attention.

* Due to the age of the facility, the job holder will need to review and refresh historical documentation and systems.

* The job holder must be capable of identifying process hazards, evaluating the risk of the hazards, and develop effective solutions to mitigate risk.

* There is a minimal process safety knowledge within the management team; the job holder will be expected to support the teams and improve general knowledge base.

Essential Requirements:

* Degree in Engineering (process or chemical) is essential plus at least 3-4 years previous Chemical Manufacturing and Process Safety experience;

* HAZOP and risk analysis experience

* Ability to read Engineering Drawings

* Knowledge of general Safety Principles including workplace hazards and hierarchy of controls

* Ability to make a risk based decision

* Data Management including spreadsheets, databases is an asset

* Adopt a pragmatic, hands on collaborative approach

* Organised and systematic

* Team Player with experience of cross functional team working

* Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
