Cumberland Lodge, the educational charity in Windsor Great Park, seeks to appoint a part-time Finance Director.
Founded in 1947, Cumberland Lodge is a charity that empowers people to tackle the causes and effects of social division and to promote social progress. Our high-profile charitable work is supported by a robust trade as a residential conference centre.
We are a close-knit team of about 70 employees, based in beautiful surroundings. This is a key role in the organisation, and we seek an outstanding colleague to join us, to manage the finances of the charity and its trading subsidiary, Cumberland Lodge Enterprises Ltd.
Hours: 20 hours per week (can be worked flexibly)
Salary: £34,000 p.a. (£63,750 FTE)
Pension & benefits: Standard Life contributory pension, health insurance, death in service benefit, lunches provided.
The Finance Director reports to the Principal (CEO) and is part of a small executive team, alongside the Principal and Chief Operating Officer, which oversees the day-to-day running of Cumberland Lodge. The Finance Director leads on financial issues, ensuring the provision of timely and accurate management information and analysis to assist the executive in decision-making.
The role holder works closely with our Board of Trustees and is also a member of the Senior Management Team, with direct line management responsibility for an accountant and a part-time accounting assistant.
Cumberland Lodge is both a registered charity (no. 1108677) and a company limited by guarantee (no. 5383055), and we operate on a not-for-profit basis. Please download our application pack for full details of the role, and to find out more about our work and business model.
We seek a qualified accountant with good all-round skills and a strong track-record of financial management in a relevant sector, including preparing financial and management accounts. Familiarity with charity accounting and SAGE accounting software is desirable, as is the ability to critique and develop our existing management accounting system, as we adjust our current business model.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative team player with good IT and interpersonal skills, who is well-organised and willing to turn to whatever task is required to ensure our financial systems operate smoothly and in a timely manner. The ability to communicate financial information to non-financial colleagues, across the organisation, is also essential.
We seek a colleague who is motivated by our vision of more peaceful, open and inclusive societies, and our mission of challenging silo thinking, inspiring minds, promoting the open exchange of views through inclusive debate and dialogue, and building powerful connections across sectors and academic disciplines.
