East London based charity requires a Budgeting & Forecasting Finance Business Manager to join their growing retail finance team.

This role will support and partner all of support stakeholders to deliver a forecast that both accurately reflects sector conditions externally and our own internal trading performance trends.

To manage the budgeting and forecasting processes within the Retail and Trading businesses. To lead on scenario planning, incorporating external sector trends, and create options to open up business discussions.

To ensure that financial targets are monitored, reported against, variances are addressed with the relevant stakeholders and any changes that may impact on the business plan are incorporated into the latest forecast.

To also manage capital spend relating to retail business projects and advise the business accordingly of any cash flow implications.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the business process by engaging with operational colleagues at an area, regional and director level and prepare supporting data and information and schedules to enable the team to discuss current performance and set business targets for the coming year
• Manage the quarterly forecasting process, working closely with the Management reporting manager to understand year to date performance and provide guidance and recommendations on the forecast targets for the remainder of the year
• Understand and continuously monitor performance versus targets in both income and cost areas, and ensuring that variances are addressed with relevant stakeholders, and reported as appropriate.
• Work with operations and property colleagues to manage and report on the capital expenditure budget
• Identify new and closed stores throughout the year, and manage the budgets accordingly
• Actively contribute to organisation-wide projects around forecasting systems
• Continuously develop the retail and trading budgeting and forecasting models and systems to ensure the process is as efficient as possible.
• Deliver timely accurate data to support the reporting of key business KPIs
• Such other duties as may be required to fulfill the objectives of the role


• Ability to understand organisational objectives and relate these to business planning cycle for Retail and Trading
• Strong financial and analytical skills and expert data modeller
• Proven ability to plan and manage all aspects of budgeting and forecasting through the operational cycle
• Highly competent in the management and analysis of large volumes of complex financial data
• Excellent organisational, time management and planning skills
• Good inter-personal skills and proven experience of communicating financial information effectively to non-financial colleagues, at all levels of the business
• Ability to critique and challenge operational colleagues in a constructive manner
• Proven ability of managing considerable quantities of data and summarising into clear information and results to aid decision making
• Strong team member
• Considered but proactive thinker with a ‘can-do’ attitude
• Hands-on and practical approach to continuous improvement
• Retail Sector experience
