One of my longest standing clients is looking for a 2nd line support engineer to join their team in one of Lancashires Universities on a contract basis for 6 months with a good chance of extension.

Beneficial skills for the 2nd Line Support Engineer:

Beneficial skills required for the 2nd line support engineer:

  • In depth windows server knowledge and experience
  • VMware
  • SAN Storage using any product but a preference for Dell or HP
  • Knowledge and Experience in back up technology
  • Routing and switching experience
  • Mac experience is a must
  • Microsoft Certified is preferable

Day to day Role:

  • Diagnosing and dealing with ticket incidents with high proficiency whilst consistently providing 1st and 2nd line support of the highest quality.
  • Finding faults in laptops and desktops
  • Diagnosing and resolving technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Finding faults in servers whilst also configuring, patching and setting them up.
  • Ensuring that the MS server and desktops are supported and maintained to the highest of quality.
  • Configuration of new laptops and desktops
  • Disabling accounts that have expired and introducing new users in accordance with the HR guidelines.
  • Completing internal user moves including phones.
  • Patching of network and phones
  • Ensure that the relevant documentations of procedures and key information are provided in a timely manner and are formatted correctly.
