Our client is seeking an inhouse Senior Solicitor for an interim role (3 to 6 month contract)

Purpose of Job:

Reporting to the Director of legal you will be ensuring that actual or potential legal risks relating to the company and its business activities are quantified, actioned and managed to achieve maximum protection of the company, its officers, reputation and asset security and minimum losses/exposure.


Provide legal input to projects and business ventures;
Provide legal advice and assistance to the operational areas of the business (incl. New Business, Customer Services, Arrears Management, Repossessions and Procurement)
Contract review and negotiation;
Respond to Customer Complaints where the complainant makes a legal argument or threatens to issue proceedings against the Company
Contribute to Enterprise Risk activity so as to ensure relevant legal risk(s) are considered in the company’s risk framework
Provide approval for customer facing correspondence and documentation
Responsible for ensuring Mortgage contracts and associated terms and conditions and instructions to solicitors remain fit for purpose and up to date
Approval of documentation provided by third parties pursuant to routine property transactions on behalf of the Company
Oversee the running of a caseload of defended litigation, defendant litigation, title rectification and professional negligence actions
Manage and oversee the discharge of registered charges following loan redemption;
Make Land Registry applications as conveyancer as required

Resolve problems and escalate matters that cannot be resolved as appropriate

Apply current skills & knowledge as well as gaining new skills & knowledge

Desirable Skills/Qualifications:
Legally qualified
Appropriately experienced in a regulated financial services environment
Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing), persuade and negotiate at all levels
Analytical skills
Supervisory skills
Ability to work both as part of a team and unsupervised on own initiative
Ability to prioritise a confidential and time-critical workload
IT literacy

Salary dependent on experience
