Our client is recognised as a brand whose strong values and culture are at the heart of their success. Based in North West England, they are now looking for a Senior Buying Manager - Food to lead and inspire the team, ensuring continued delivery of the best possible service to their customers.

What does this Senior Buying Manager - Food role involve?


  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership to inspire and nurture a high performing team by flexing style as appropriate.

  • Provide support to the Director of Food to establish the framework and detail of the directorate strategy.

  • Able to build and nurture key internal relationships, external suppliers and partners.


  • Accountable for developing and driving own division to deliver and exceed financial KPI's.

  • Accountable for translating the directorate strategy into defined activities by category to be delivered in consistent and agreed actions through the Buyers.

  • Responsible for all supplier negotiations to source product at the lowest cost and highest quality within own area; actively involved in the more complex negotiations.

  • Work with Buying Support Manager to achieve the buying cycle; ensure that all financial KPI's are met including availability and wastage.

  • Able to demonstrate excellent buying skills including pricing, ranging, quality and merchandise; understand the complexities and opportunities for leverage.

  • Work closely with Merchandise Planners to analyse brand performance against financial objectives to maximise growth opportunities; responsible for planning and managing the OTB

  • Collaborate with the PR, Media & Marketing teams to deliver the buying vision to the customer.

  • Senior Buying Manager - Food will be responsible for identifying emerging trends and opportunities by using competitor market analysis and internal and CRM data; demonstrate in depth knowledge of competitors and the general food industry.
