Higher Level Teaching Assistant / HLTA needed in Mexborough.

A small school in Mexborough is looking to recruit a Higher Level Teaching Assistant / HLTA on a temporary basis to begin immediately. You will be contracted to 32.5 hours per week, working hours being 8:30-15:00.

As a HLTA, every day will be different. You will have a variety of responsibilities across KS1 / Key Stage 1 where you will assist class teachers with the daily running of the KS1 / Key Stage 1 area of the school. You will assist with resources and classroom preparation, assisting children with their work, assisting meal times and lunch time supervision. You will cover lessons for KS1 classes regularly, this will be during PPA time and staff absences.

This is a rural one from entry school where community is valued, parents are largely involved with the school and there are frequent occasions where parents are encouraged to attend and contribute. The school feels that it is important to create a holistic learning environment with family and wider community involvement. This means that as well as the typical learning day, you will be expected to take on extra responsibilities such as prepping for a school fayre or helping to plan a coffee morning. It is essential that you are able to build and maintain positive relationships with the parents as well as students and staff.

You must have good literacy and numeracy skills, and excellent organisational and timekeeping skills.

HLTA qualification
The enthusiasm to work with children with a variety of different personalities and skill levels
A strong, confident individual who can take control of a classroom
Able to engage well with pupils and staff
Able to work under your own initiative
Smartly presented and with excellent time management skills
