RM plc is a FTSE listed business with 3 primary divisions which sell a diverse product range of IT, Technology, Managed Services and Retail products into the Education sector. In FY17, revenues were c. £185m, with £18.0m operating profits. Market capitalisation is £165m with a share price of c£2.

The 3 primary divisions the business is split into are:

RM Resources

Sells school supplies and innovative educational resources to Primary, Secondary and Early Years. Within RM Resources there are two businesses, TTS and The Consortium, The Consortium was acquired during 2017 and continues to be integrated into the wider RM group. Both businesses are highly cash generative and revenues in the prior year were c£84m (including 5 months of The Consortium). Difficult UK market conditions in recent years have been partially offset by growth internationally.

RM Results

Experts in online exam authoring, onscreen testing, onscreen marking and the management and analysis of educational data. RM Results works with government ministries, exam boards and professional awarding bodies around the world to improve efficiency, accuracy and clarity in the assessment cycle. Revenues exceed £30m.

RM Education

Provide ICT software and services for UK schools. These range from full outsourced models to the provision of networks, broadband, online safety software, cloud services and management information systems. The division has revenues of c£70m.

The role

The Group Financial Planning & Analysis Manager (FP&A Manager) leads & supports the planning & forecasting for the RM plc Group, providing timely, accurate and relevant information to the Executive Directors and senior managers throughout the Group. The FP&A Manager is also responsible for oversight of cash management and the Treasury team based in India.

It will necessarily entail a high degree of commercial interaction with the Group’s business units. This role is key to developing a consistent approach to planning & forecasting across the Group

This role has arisen due to an internal move within the finance team.

The role is a key part of the Group Finance function responsible for group forecasting and budgeting, oversight of cash management, support during the year end audit and various other ad hoc tasks. Further detail is provided in the next section.

* Ad hoc projects : Supporting the CFO, central finance team and other stakeholders to assist with business operations and decisions

Skills & experience

* Degree calibre or equivalent

* Qualified accountant ideally with a minimum of 2 years business related experience

* Excellent Excel skills

* Strong analytical & problem solving skills

* Strong communication and negotiation skills

* Good presentation skills

* Ability to work independently and as a team member with excellent interpersonal skills – tact and diplomacy.

* Flexible with good time management skills

* Experience with forecasts is essential
