Role - Planning Manager To maintain a smooth and effective flow of production within the manufacturing plant eg. Machining of components completed on time for welding to commence to meet client delivery schedule. Key Responsibilities: Process S.O.Cs from Sales/internal sales (i.e raise work orders to manufacture items required) Develop, implement and manage cross functional, fully in fully integrated planning process, capacity planning, scheduling, inventory, stores, materials and associated cost elements. Obtain information regarding stock levels for raw materials, finished components and ancillary products, I,e protectors, O-rings etc. Review current capacity booked for live jobs and provide expected delivery dates. Coordinate with cross-functional business teams to develop the best economic strategy for production planning to support customer demand Using Glovia ERP/MRP system, interrogate stock levels and interrogate Preactor scheduling system to seek windows of opportunity for manufacturing and align expected completion date with capacity availability. Establish and implement methods of best practices related to the systems and process that support inventory, purchasing and material control. Liaise where necessary with Customers/Sub-Contractors. Dealing with SOC's Create and maintain accurate routings and BOMS Ensure materials are in stock to meet delivery dates Co-ordinate within the Planning Department and arrange shop orders for all top-line part numbers and shop floor documentation Co-ordinate and work with quality, engineering, machining and assembly operations to ensure improvement of on-time delivery by monitoring schedule to proactively identify and address any issues Maintain constant check on stock availability and advise Internal Sales or Materials issues Liaise with Materials and Sales Departments regarding material procurement. Monitor in-progress production daily against Preactor scheduling and adjusting accordingly, reporting back to Sales if any delays eg, material delivery failures. Liaise daily with Machine Shop, Welding and Materials Supervisors on ongoing production to ensure demands can be fulfilled and liaise on a regular basis with QA Department and Engineering regarding inspection criteria and drawings. Qualifications/Experience A background in Machine Shop/Fabrication or Welding Shop is essential along with being able to demonstrate working knowledge of an MRP system. Must be able to demonstrate an ability to learn internal processes/procedures quickly and have a flexible approach to work. The ability to work effectively as part of a team and in particular the ability to encourage and coach team members is essential. Minimum 5 years' experience within an Engineering Management role Minimum HND qualification in an Engineering discipline. Ability to interpret Engineering drawings. Previous experience using MRP/ERP systems Proven ability to develop and mentor a team Highly organised with excellent analytical skills IOSH qualification desirable Experience managing a team of people.
