Currently working with an excellent client who are looking for a Head of Strategy to lead the:

• Strategy Department which is responsible for the design and execution of the Strategy Framework

• Review and iteration of the Strategy with the CEO and Board

• Development and delivery of :

* Core analysis products to support strategy execution

* Horizon Scanning and futures capability

* the innovation capability

Responsibilities

You will be:

Accountable for

Design and execution of The Pension Regulator’s Strategy Framework which drives all activity undertaken by the regulator this includes at regular intervals the development of the Corporate Strategy under direction of Exec Director.

Embedding the strategic framework and ensuring effective information flows both into and out of the strategy function to support the wider organisation’s activity

Responsible for

* Design and delivery of horizon scanning and future scenario activity to inform long term planning and strategy execution

* Design of core analysis products to support strategy execution, prioritisation of activity and corporate planning steers. Responsible for the delivery of these products through leveraging information from teams across the organisation

* Design and tracking of strategic outcome measures, KPI’s and KOI’s

* The smooth handoff of strategic planning activity into corporate planning

* Recruitment, integration, training, performance and ongoing monitoring of the team

* Innovation activity of the organisation, trialling new ideas, interacting with innovators working in the markets and leading discussions with the Executive and Board on how the busness should innovate for itself.

* Leadership and management of the strategy function including the setting of objectives, monitoring and appraising staff performance

* Analysing and reporting on the effectiveness of regulatory approaches and support decisions about where we should assign our front line resource

Working with

* Executive Director, at times demanded by the Strategy Framework, responsible for the formulation of The Pension Regulator’s Corporate Strategy together with the Chief Executive and the Board

* Integral to the Senior Management of the Strategy & Risk Directorate and the wider Senior Leadership Team with regular interfaces with the CEO, Chairman and Board

* Collaborating with senior leaders to facilitate the development of their strategic plans, ensuring they are robust and interconnected

Essential and Desirable criteria

• Good commercial understanding including corporate strategy,pensions environment strategic trends and issues and macro and micro economic trends.

• Proven experience of managing a team.

• Direct experience of working in a senior strategy role and setting strategy Frameworks in consultancy and or public sector and/or regulatory environments

• A strong presence with demonstrable experience of representing an organisation, both internally and externally.

• Proven expertise in strategic engagement and stakeholder management – sensitive to different agendas.

• Ability to challenge Directorates whilst working collaboratively with them
