Technical Sales Advisor - Engineering Components and Systems

* Based in Crewe, Cheshire

* £22,000 - £25,000 +25 days holiday, Employers pension, Life assurance, Discounted Health Care Schemes etc.

The Position

The Technical Sales Advisor is a key member of the sales team working alongside other sales engineers and sales support staff at this company's head office in Crewe. The role is to provide technical, commercial and administrative support to the businesses external sales team.

As a Technical Sales Advisor you will be responsible for all aspects of the sales support pipeline. This will include advice to customers on the technical specification of systems, quotation of components, managing your sales funnels, daily close contact on a professional sales level with our external sales team, contributing to the sales forecast and generally ensuring the smooth running of the sales process in general.

Main Tasks:

* Provide a proactive approach to supporting our customers including regular follow-up and general liaison.

* Handling technical enquiries and advising customers on product selection.

* Compiling and selecting technical information

* Compiling quotations

* Managing quotations and your own workflow in general

* Contribute to sales forecasts

* Convert your enquiries into orders

* Liaise with the engineering department as necessary to specify equipment specifications, company standards and product developments.

* Deliver daily/weekly targets in line with sales KPIs and deliver sales development targets in line with longer-term strategies set.

* Over time develop a working knowledge of the company products and services in order to provide detailed guidance to our customers.

* Proactively deal with comments and complaints from customers as they arise. Assisting with the investigation and recording of the issue and proactively providing a solution. Reporting problems to the management team.

The Person:

The ideal candidate is likely to have existing technical sales experience in either an internal or external role and ideally (but by no means essential) have experience of engineering components or mechanical systems or another technical discipline. Above all, we are looking for a focussed and enthusiastic individual with a genuine ‘can do’ attitude who will make a real and valued contribution to the sales team as the business grows to meet their full potential as a world leader.


We are looking for individuals with A-Level ‘s or further education in any of the following disciplines mechanical/Chemical/Science/engineering or technical understanding of mechanical systems. Likewise, you could be a Graduate who is looking for a firm footing in a technical sales environment.

Skills & Experience Required:

* Above average interpersonal skills with an enthusiasm to connect with our customer network

* A natural understanding of the sales process and an understanding of the needs of the customer

* A customer focussed mindset

* Product and application knowledge in a technical discipline.

* Ability to adapt to change and a willingness to learn.

* A keen eye for detail, attention to accuracy.

* Able to work alone or as part of a team.

* Self-motivated.

* Manage your own time and your own workload as required

* Commercial/Technical experience within similar industries/market

* Microsoft Word/Excel

* Knowledge of CRM and ERP Systems is a bonus

* Mechanical/Chemical Knowledge
