Functional Tester



My client a leading energy provider is looking to engage a functional tester to join them at their location in Hove. I am looking for a functional tester familiar with AWS cloud technology, Kalibash and Java/Python coding skills

You will become part of the innovation team at their Innovation accelerator base where they are 100% dedicated to their customers, playing an instrumental role in innovation, looking to improve the lives of consumers by harnessing the latest technologies, developing energy services or testing the new business models of tomorrow.

Nature and Scope

My client works with agile methodologies and cutting edge web technologies. You’ll work in a modern, friendly environment, where there is a great focus on knowledge sharing, self-improvement and getting things done. You will:

* Actively participate in Sprint/iteration planning sessions providing accurate estimates for each task

* Identify and resolve technical and functional errors across a number of areas

* Mentor and share testing/technical expertise with the team when required

* Ensure appropriate documentation is in place to support future maintenance of system and to support operational requirement

* Availability to do out of hour support work if necessary

Principal Accountabilities

* Accountable for defining test strategy and scope, planning and executing testing for solutions delivered by Smarter Living

* Be comfortable with the technologies, terminology and processes used by full stack AWS developers

* Working with a cross-functional team in the past is essential

* Ensure code complies with agreed standards and guidelines

* Lead testing activity for your assigned projects

* Ensuring your iteration tasks are completed on time

* Take business requirements for new or changing functionality on the platform and produce a test plan

* Work closely with Product Owners to refine acceptance criteria of user stories to ensure all must have functionality is documented and tested

* Troubleshoot and provide appropriate solutions if and when problems occur.

* Delivery of agreed tasks to agreed timescales

* Maintain a highly organised level of working standard – adhering to our working practices, code standards and helping us to develop them to become more efficient and effective.

* Build your own knowledge of latest technologies through online and offline reading, attending events and sharing knowledge with the other web teams and be a source of best practise knowledge!

Skills and Experience

* Experience with testing Node & Javascript-based, progressive web applications; APIs and backend services.

* Familiar with collaboration tools Jira and Confluence

* Ability to work in a fast paced environment and to make sound decisions under pressure of time and ability to prioritise

* Experience in writing scripts for test automation using open source tools

* Experience with TDD and BDD, and at least one supporting tool (eg Selenium, Cucumber, Behave, Appium)

* Experience with testing in cloud-based environments using online tools (eg BrowserStack, SauceLabs, Selenium Grid)

* Reporting progress during test automation development and execution phases

* Good experience in an agile Scrum/Kanban development environment

* Experience of working in a Cloud environment - principally AWS

* Be able to manage the day to day test activities without supervision

* Good conceptual knowledge of Unit level/SIT Level/UAT level/Regression level testing.

* Experience of working in Agile/DevOps environments and familiar with SCRUM/Kanban

* Strong experience in Test Planning, writing test scenarios, and integration, functional, system, regression, exploratory and UAT testing

* Experience in testing non-functional requirements such as security, usability and performance

* Familiarity with SQL or NoSQL databases and writing and executing queries

* Experience in testing data-driven projects is a strong plus
