Southern Area Sales Engineer - Water Filtration

We are seeking a proactive and highly motivated individual to work for an industry-leading manufacturer of automated screens and screenings handling equipment within the municipal wastewater industry. The candidate will ideally be based in the Oxford/Reading area and able to generate new business and maintain existing accounts throughout the south of England.

What we're looking for:

+ Sales background, supported by an engineering qualification, such as City & Guilds or Technical Certificates, possibly even an Engineering Degree but in all cases must have spent some time in sales.
+ Ideally be selling capital type equipment, values from £20k - £500K, attending site visits to gain technical information to pass to the head office to enable quotations to be submitted. 
+ Specifically, working in the wastewater/water industry or dealing with water authorities and have an understanding of Tenders and contracts and AMP periods would be a distinct advantage.
+ Working for waste water screens and screening handling equipment companies, water treatment companies, pump manufacturer and supplier.

Southern Area Sales Engineer Key Responsibilities:

+ Field based role so must be able to work autonomously within your territory
+ Develop new business and maintain and service existing clients
+ Promptly following up on leads and sales opportunities
+ Undertake site surveys and generate detailed and accurate reports
+ Preparation of quotations and specifications for our clients
+ Communicate effectively with clients, engineers, procurement and management personnel
+ Attendance at exhibitions and commercial meetings
+ Ensure that your territory sales potential is achieved
+ Flexible approach to the demands and needs of the client and company
+ Any other sales and marketing duties as reasonably requested

Southern Area Sales Engineer Required Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

+ Demonstrate a successful background in project sales and business development
+ Resilient and disciplined with the ability to be able to work alone within the territory
+ Engineering or technical background, within the waste water utilities sector would be a distinct advantage
+ Projects, capital plant and equipment sales experience
+ Proficient negotiator and outstanding planning and organisational skills
+ Contractual and commercial awareness
+ Able to interpret, measure, sketch and report information obtained from site visits and surveys 
+ Ability to negotiate and win suitable projects to satisfy the customer requirements within the company’s capabilities
+ A people’s person that can build relationships with our key clients and their teams


+ £32,000 - £35,000 dependent upon experience with contributory pension scheme

+ Full time permanent position based from home
