As the Senior Backend Developer, your role includes working with modern technologies specifically PHP and Craft CMS on the backend, integrating with multiple third party API’s, so would ideally suit a person who likes variation and enjoys technical challenges.

You’ll be working within a multi-disciplined team and will be responsible for communicating with our front end developers and our designer to make sure your brilliant back end work looks as pretty as possible.

Experience we’re seeking…

Significant development experience in PHP (ideally PHP 5.6+)
Working knowledge of integrating with third party API’s
Excellent communication skills and a team player, while having the ability to work on their own
Strong analytical skills & attention to detail
Experience with MySQL Databases, best practices, and database scalability
HTML, CSS and some JavaScript experience (Beneficial)
Experience with Plugin development

Eyebrow raising skills…

Familiarity with templating languages such as Twig
Knowledge of multiple backend languages (such as python, ruby etc)
Experience with frameworks (such as Slim PHP, Laravel, Django, Flask, etc)
Knowledge of Design Patterns, PHP PSR recommendations and Python PEP 8
Knowledge of Dependency management (such as Composer, packagist, etc)
Working with large data
Experience in sys administration
Experience with working in a tech startup
Understanding of the importance of clean, descriptive code

Hours & flexibility: Standard hours are 9:30am to 6pm, however as part of a high-performance team, you'll benefit from the flexibility to manage your own day to optimise the way you work to be at your best.

Social: We’re big on keeping Bud a social team, so Christmas and Summer parties can be a big deal. We’ll also organize sports events, music gigs, and after-work meetups.

Office: Bud’s new office is a newly renovated space, specifically designed to our needs. Cool interior, breakout spaces, professional meeting rooms, brand new kitchen and a shower room for our part-time athletes.
