Inward Investment & Growth
The Planning Policy and Development Management teams within the Inward Investment and Growth Service of the Council are responsible for dealing with a wide range of planning and associated applications for development proposals across the District. As a mix of towns and villages set within a rural context coupled with high development pressure and an ambitious pro-growth agenda, the planning caseload is both high and interesting including major housing, employment and retail proposals.
A Senior Planner role with a specific focus on conservation and regeneration is now available within the teams. This will provide the opportunity at a senior level to be an integral part of the development management and wider planning service, to provide specialist advice and support, positively influence development proposals and to achieve the conservation and enhancement of buildings, sites and areas of architectural and historic interest.
It is an exciting opportunity for a career in a District with over 1200 Listed Buildings, and 15 Conservation Areas within its boundaries, historic market towns and a wealth of rural buildings which together contribute to an important heritage and historical environment. Given the historic nature of the District the post will also play a key part in regeneration projects that deliver community, economic and environmental benefits.
For the post, we are looking for a candidate who is qualified to degree level in town planning / historic building conservation or a related discipline. You should be eligible for membership of the RTPI and/or IHBC accreditation and be able to demonstrate experience of dealing with a range of planning and conservation issues in a development management/planning environment and have a sound knowledge of planning, listed and conservation legislation. You will need to be enthusiastic, have a flexible approach to working hours and be a team player.
For an informal discussion, please contact Stuart Houlet, Service Manager for Development Management on 01278 435246 or Nick Tait, Service Manager for Policy on 01278 435220.
This post is subject to a Baseline Personal Security Standard Check via the disclosure procedure.
