Job Purpose:

To take full ownership of all processes, people, machines and floor space within the dobby, jacquard, tuning and inspection areas. This includes overall responsibility for shift supervision, planning, organising, control, improvement projects and motivation functions.

Key Tasks and Accountabilities:

- Taking responsibility for improving aspects of the team performance to exceed the targets set above.
- Developing an excellent working relationship with all other employees within the business.
- To ensure the effective use and support of all staff in the Dobby, Jacquard, Knotting, Tuning, Fabric Marshalling and Inspection areas. Including control of holidays, manning plans and temporary workers where necessary.
- Ensuring sales and development priorities are delivered within each department to required timescales.
- To ensure smooth change overs between shifts.
- Cover for other team leader functions as required.
- Staff supervision including Organisation of maintenance / tuning schedules and control of relevant requests and associated purchasing requirements (including consumables).
- Administration duties including daily and weekly production figures and graphs.
- Health and safety functions including risk assessment, safe operating procedures, accident / incident reporting and investigation.
- Quality functions including reject reduction and prevention initiatives.
- Waste handling and re-cycling including monitoring and reporting.
- Training and development of your teams.
- Human resource/personnel functions including recruitment and staff selection, absence management, grievance and disciplinary procedures, performance appraisals, trial period reviews and inductions.

Knowledge and aptitudes required:

- Loom tuning and textile knowledge.
- Basic computer knowledge
- Management of health and safety
- Fabric quality
- Possess the desire to continually improve the working environment, achieve world class status and strive for perfection.
- People management skills
- Prioritisation and organisation.

Additional Requirements:

- Tuning experience.
- Team leading / Management experience.
- IOSH qualifications
- Tuning qualification
- Management qualification (not essential)
- Textile Diploma (or equivalent)
