Maternity cover post We are looking to recruit a skilled, motivated and experienced nursery practitioner to deliver high quality Early Learning and Childcare in our 3-5s room. The successful candidate will be actively involved in all aspects of Early Learning and Childcare and they will be committed to improving outcomes for all children and families. The post will be Monday-Friday, 8.30-4pm, term time only. There may be potential opportunities for overtime in the school holidays to cover staff sickness and holidays. The post will initially be to cover maternity leave (9 months to a year). The applicants must hold, or be currently working towards an SVQ Social Services Children and Young People Level 3 or hold an equivalent qualification, have a current PVG and be registered with the SSSC. It would be desirable if the applicants had a current First aid and food hygiene Certificate. The Early Years Practitioner should also possess the following: Be an innovative educator who will work as part of a team delivering Curriculum for Excellence, creating stimulating learning opportunities that deliver a high quality child centred early year’s provision which meets the needs of our children and their families. Knowledge and understanding of child development, GIRFEC, The Wellbeing wheel and the importance of safeguarding children. Understanding of play and ways in which this supports and develops children’s learning Effective verbal and written communication skills Effective organisational and time management skills Ability to prioritise own workload Ability to be patient, respectful and support and nurture children’s development and progress. Ability to observe children sensitively and identify next steps Ability to work together as part of a team and able to use own initiative Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Ability and willingness to take responsibility for his/her CPD.
