What is the purpose of this role?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part qualified Management Accountant to join our Rail Finance team based in Birmingham. This position will give the successful candidate a breadth of exposure across Finance and our business. This role will support consolidations of the whole Rail business as well as providing transactional and management account support to some of our major contracts and alliance partnerships. You will also be offered support to achieve your finance qualification.

This is a varied and challenging position where you will support the Budget and Forecast processes for the Rail business as well as involvement in the cash process. A key focus for this position will include the production of management accounts, BPC uploading as well as a lot of SAP involvement interrogating the data on the system as well as balance sheet reconciliations.

What will this role involve?

* Manipulating data in Excel to aid in decision making

* Analysis of data and trends to produce valuable management information

* Production of monthly management accounts and preparation of periodic budgets and forecasts

* Completion of audit packs to assist in interim / annual audit process

* Production and reporting of cash flow forecasts

* Reporting and explanation of variances to profit centre managers

* Bringing new ideas into the area to enhance change and automate processes

What are we looking for?

* Part / qualified (ACCA or CIMA) or equivalent

* Track record in a finance environment with experience of supporting month end activities

* Background working in a blue chip, complex organisation would be beneficial

* Good knowledge of accounting practices, statutory regulations and reporting requirements and experience of forecasting

* Profit centre reporting and variance analysis experience

* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

* Ability to achieve tight deadlines with high degree of quality and understanding

* Strong IT skills including good knowledge of SAP or similar finance package and Excel to an intermediate level

* Highly numerate and analytical
