My client are currently recruiting for a Bid Manager to join their UK team to work as part of their Substation division.


* Your role will be to look after the fully approved Tendering Process for LV to 275kV Substation Construction and Refurbishment Projects for both DNO and Private Network Owners in the UK. The Business Unit at present is doing exceptionally well, with links to the majority of UK DNO's and Private Network Owners.

* You will be very familiar with reviewing Invitation to Tender Packs (ITT), whilst travelling around the UK to conduct site visits and meetings to assess and discuss the actual requirements of the enquiry. Hence a background experience in working in a Substation environment up to 275kV is essential.

* You will have the ability to delegate responsibility to others, with clear communicated objectives and expectations to allow you to oversee the Tender Return submissions. This shall include Compliance, Technical Solution, Risk and Innovation and preparation of Tender Return Information such as: - Construction Phase Health & Safety Plans, Project Team Organisational Charts, Summaries of Staff and Certification, to meet customer requirements and the tender evaluation process.

* Once the tenders have been successful you will work closely with the Operations Delivery Team to ensure we have fully compiled a detailed handover for continuity purposes.

* You will also have flexibility to travel, to work from any of our multiple UK based offices as and when required.

* This role requires someone who is a great communicator and can mentor and drive the team around them to deliver, as well as collaborating with Internal and External Stakeholders.


* You will have extensive experience and be able to review Invitation to Tenders, collate and present Bid Approval papers, and resolve scope queries.

* You will ensure that the preparation and submittal of customer proposals are estimated accurately and consistently, incorporating compliance to customer specifications /documents, with the validation of our technical solution and value engineering.

* You will be looking for improvements and innovation to continue the excellent reputation of the company when it comes to tendering preparation and submittal; ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction (both Internal & External) resulting in business growth in our targeted areas.

* Your job will be essentially to manage the overall tendering process from receipt of enquiry to submission and then post tender negotiations; whilst interjecting where necessary to ensure the process runs smoothly.

* You will co-ordinate with all internal business functions to ensure that all risks are identified and mitigation plans established in line with our Company Polices & Procedures.


* Higher Qualification within Engineering Discipline – Power / Electrical Engineering.

* Over 5 Years’ experience in a Bid Management

* Practical experience in the application of CDM 2015 Regulations.

* HV Engineering experience within a Projects environment, specifically focused on LV & HV Substation Works upto 275kV.

* Experience in a commercial bidding and customer facing environment.

* Able to work to tight tender submission deadlines with minimum supervision and can demonstrate previous experience of working under pressure.

* An ability to work closely and effectively with the management and the local project team to achieve challenging targets combined with an ability to work on a self-directed basis
