Job Title: Category Manager (Paper)

Location: Lancashire

Salary: Competitive Package

Currently working with a large manufacturing business, who have a substantial presence in their FMCG market, who require a Category Manager (Paper) to add to their Procurement Function. A substantial UK player within their market, the business are experiencing significant growth and wish to build a more robust Procurement Strategy for key commodity spend of Paper. The business have established themselves as leading organisation within the field, but still pride themselves on retaining the SME/family run roots.

Key Responsibilities:

* Reporting to the Head of Procurement, this role is to help lead the Procurement team into being a world class operation by managing the critical Paper category
*

Recruit, lead and develop a direct report (Supplier Performance Manager).

* Develop and implement the Paper Category Strategy to ensure delivery of ongoing and significant business benefits from the ~£70m annual spend
*

Develop strategic relationships both with key suppliers throughout the whole Paper supply chain and with internal stakeholders at all levels to ensure improvements are identified and implemented efficiently.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required:

* At least 5 years in front line category management roles in major organisations responsible for multi million pound categories in a Paper or other commodity area.
* A record of strong benefit delivery.
* Adept at doing business internationally being mindful of cultural variations but always performing to the highest professional and ethical standards.
* Able to act as the spokesperson for the Category at senior levels both within and outside the company and act as the senior internal escalation point for Paper related issues
* Honours degree in a numerate subject.
* Chartered membership of a recognised professional body such as MCIPS.
* Willing and able to travel at short notice for approximately 50% of the time to visit suppliers who may be based in UK, Europe or further afield.
* Highly self-motivated and self-managing with the skills and tenacity required to overcome setbacks and secure opportunities.
